105 Head Averaged $2,409.00 going to 10 States and Canada

The longest running sales series of the Breed featuring the “Brown Swiss Market Place for the Northeast” again was held at the Cobleskill Fairgrounds in Cobleskill, NY on October 18, 2008. The largest crowd ever in attendance witnessed a variety of  Registered Brown Swiss sell to many old and new faces from the Northeast as well as new buyers from Quebec and British Columbia, Canada. A large number of project aged calves averaged $1291.00 with the balance of 88 head posting an average of  $2,624.00

Several of the high selling consignments came from the Iager and Majeskie group from Maryland including the top seller at $9,000.00 going to Sylvain Hince of St. Robert, PQ. This VG87 two year old by Harts Ensign Energy is from Sun Made Garbro EG Patsy ET, herself the former top of the ’06 Sunshine Opportunity Sale and from the Priscilla family. Another from the same consignors was next on the high sellers list and taken at $6,400.00 by Robert Gould and Bruce Dearborn, Hadley, MA. She is a large Dynasty three year old from 4 generations of “Ex” dams all over 30,000m and sold due in December to Energy.

Tied for third high seller and the highest bred heifer was Catalog #1, VB Hillpoint Denv Rose ET, consigned by Robert and Sean Gould, Hadley, MA and from the 4x Reserve All American VB Star G Rinez “3E92”.  Rose joined the Bradner Farms purchases at $6,000.00 and will make her new home across the continent in British Columbia. Also selling for $6,000.00 was a special Premium daughter selling fresh and promising a high score from the Mort Matt Tammy family. She was provided by the high quality Iager and Majeskie group and purchased by Sylvain Hince of St. Robert, PQ.

The next two high consignments each brought $5,300.00 - Top Acres M Zeus Gazelle ET sold from Top Acres, St. Paris, OH to Bradner Farms, Abbotsford, BC  while Nutmeg Acres Jetway Tidbit brought the same amount for Lewis and Truda Tanner, Warren, CT and makes her new home in Quebec with Sylvain Hince.

Round Hill Acres, Frederick, MD and Arthurst Farm, Plato, MN consigned their large VG88 All American Nominee, Viking Valley Europa Jabot who sold for $4,850.00 Looking to go up in score, Jabot was the purchase of Janelle and Doug Moore, from Greenwich, NY.

This year's sale started with the Juniors from the New England States offering baskets of items from each state sold to help fund their junior activities. Also selling in the sale was a large quantity of semen as well as high quality embryos from dams to over 40,000m

The sale was managed by Modern Associates with Wayne E, Sliker providing pedigree announcements and Dave Bush as auctioneer. Gordon DeMay, Richard Stephens, and Brian Garrison provided ring assistance with Connie Sliker, Kathy DeMay, and Laura Bush handling clerking details. The cattle were presented in the ring by NY Juniors – Michelle Meisner, Annie Rinehardt, Jason Bogardus, Jason Rice, and David Meisner.
