Louisville, Kentucky - Post Time - 10:30, July 3 Overall Average: $5530! |
The horse race theme continued as the bugler from Churchill Downs made his official appearance Saturday morning at The National Brown Swiss Sale and called the contenders into starting position. It came as no surprise that the early favorite to lead the race, Brothers Three Wisp “E91”, was the Stakes Winner and high seller of the day at $37,000. Already a two time All-American as a two and three year old, Wisp sold due to the service of Zeus with her eye on the prize for another year. Wisp will now run under the banner of Elite Dairy for Ken Main and Peter Vail, Copake, NY. Her consignors, promoters, and breeders were all in attendance in the winner’s circle - Brothers Three Brown Swiss from Wisconsin and Pennsylvania as well as The Gibsons, KY-Bluegrass Genetics, Eminence, Kentucky. Final contender on this special young cow was Rob Donaldson, Abbotsford, BC, Canada for his Bradner Farms. Standing on the end of the row and drawing much pre-sale praise, Random Luck Vision Twyla ET sold just fresh and recently rescored “E91”. Twyla was last year’s Reserve All-American Senior Three Year Old as well as Reserve Champion to Wisp at the Southeastern National Show. Her awesome udder and extreme dairy frame caught the eye and the final bids from two quality minded cow men. Rex Mort, Pierceton, Indiana was the winner as he placed a $23,000. bid to take her home. Jeff Woods, Madison, Wisconsin was the contender for Renegade Swiss. Random Luck Farm, Darlington, Wisconsin was the consignor and the breeder on this 5th generation “Ex” from the phenomenal brood cow dam, Sun Made Jetway Taps ET “2E92” with 43,270m. Selling last in the sale and the highest selling heifer of the day, Top Acres M Agenda Sunset was consigned by Dr. Kenny Manion, Scottsville, Kentucky and Top Acres of St. Paris, Ohio. After an extended race to the finish line, Ken Main and Peter Vail added this promising heifer to their herd for $15,000. Chris Durbin was unable to attend the sale in person as the result of a serious health issue, but was on the phone with Brian Garrison placing his contending bid. Sunset is a large Agenda from the twice All-American Hill-N-Dale Ensign Sue and has some well known maternal siblings including Power Surge and the All-Americans, Top Acres Pilot Suki “E92/94MS” and Top Acres M Coll Sue ET “2E93/94MS”. The Kentucky National Convention Sale was managed by Modern Associates of St. Paris, Ohio with Wayne E. Sliker on the pedigrees assisted by auctioneers Darrell Worden and Tim Eiting. A talented group of cow men worked the ring and the phones including Brian Garrison, Dave Wallace, Lee Barber, Richard Sparrow, and Terry Trowbridge. Lindsey Rucks, Skyler DeGroft, as well as Joe, Ben and Kirby Sparrow capably presented the cattle in the ring. Connie Sliker and Cindy Worden handled clerking details with Jenna and Deb Hoffman providing decoration and design. Cattle care was first class with Jason Robinson and Dale Bendig heading up an ambitious preparation crew. |
