MIDWEST REVUE BROWN SWISS SALE
March 31 – Spring Dairy Expo – Columbus, Ohio
60 Head Averaged $3,275. - - Top at $20,000

The 2011 Edition of the Midwest Revue Sale is in the books. Again held in conjunction with the Spring Dairy Expo, the Revue offered a selection of strong pedigreed eye pleasers. In general, the market for show heifers and the fancy bred heifers outdistanced the demand for milk cows and close springers. The entire sale including cattle, embryos and semen sold to 10 states from Vermont to California as well as British Columbia and Manitoba, Canada.

High seller at $20,000.00 was the outstanding Top Acres PS Whazoo ET, a bred heifer with great promise for the 2011 shows. An ultra dairy daughter of Power Surge, Whazoo is from Top Acres Andre Whisper ET, a newly scored “2E93” maternal sister to the breed leading Wonderment. With three bidders in to the very end, Chris Durbin, Leitchfield, KY placed the final nod and adds Whazoo to his growing Quicksilver Herd. Top Acres, St. Paris, OH consigned this special granddaughter of Whizzbang.

Next in line at $7,250.00 was Cutting Edge PS Apple ET, another fancy Power Surge from Timberline Denmark Angela “3E94” consigned by Elite Dairy, Copake, NY.  Angela, a perennial All American contender, is also high in the production department with records to 39,530m. Jerry Ziegler was on the phone to pick his Apple and add this September 2010 calf to a select group of foundation animals near Belleville, WI.

Forest Lawn Gateway Vine “VG87/2y” stood on the end of the row and attracted attention with her fancy udder. Shaun Young of   Tinmouth, VT was the successful bidder at $7,000.00  on this Top Acres Gateway ET daughter. Blessing Farms and Rex Mort, Fort Wayne, IN consigned this milky junior three year old prospect.

Hillpoint Partners and Top Acres provided another 9/10 high level show prospect, Top Acres HP Parker Rox ET. Her dam, Round Hill Mist Rockie, recently scored “4E92” at 13 years. John Paul Regusci paid $6,750.00 for this Brothers Three Parker daughter and she is headed for Modesto, CA.

As for the last 34 years, The Revue Sale was managed by Modern Associates of St. Paris, OH with Darrell Worden and Tim Eiting sharing selling duties while Wayne E. Sliker made announcements. The active ringmen handling bids and the phones included Brian Garrison, Dave Wallace, and Lee Barber.  Lindsey Rucks, Michelle Funk, and Kirby Sparrow presented the cattle in the ring. Clerking duties were provided by Connie Sliker and Deb Hoffman.
