2008 Midwest Sale Report
March 27 - Columbus, Ohio

All-Time High Average - $5400 on 60 head!

 

The Midwest Revue Sale started the 2008 Brown Swiss spring sales out with a bang on March 27th with a $5440 average on 60 head. This was the 35th sale of this sales series managed by Modern Associates and the 19th conducted in conjunction with The Spring Dairy Expo, Columbus, Ohio.

Topping the event at $22,000 was Lot #1 - GS Premium Lisa, the 2006 All American Junior Three Year Old, going to Bradner Farms, Abbotsford, British Columbia. Sunshine Genetics was the final contending bidder on this outstanding Top Acres EP Premium ET daughter due for the 2008 shows and consigned by Samantha Garst, New Windsor, Maryland.  The second high seller of the day was Sun Made SGW Bracelet ET, an extra fancy bred heifer from 4 “Ex” dams.  Lost Elm Farm, Berlin, WI paid $20,000 to take home this daughter of the 3-Time All American Top Acres Pre Bouquet ET.  Wayne E. Sliker and Garrison Brothers, St. Paris, Ohio were the consignors and Fulp Farms, Aurora, MO the contenders.  Another Bouquet daughter was next in line at $16,000 and was purchased by new Brown Swiss breeders, Saltzman Cavern View Swiss, Alvada, OH. This special Banker daughter was consigned by Top Acres and sold carrying an untrasounded Starsky heifer calf. 

Nation-wide buyers represented 14 states across the country from California to New Hampshire as well as Canada. Several purchases placed well in the Brown Swiss Show held on Friday evening including the first fall calf, KulpTerra TA Showgirl ETwinning her class in both the Open and Junior Shows as well as Junior Champion of the Junior Show for her proud new owner, Lindsey Rucks, Okeechobee, Florida.

Darrell Worden and Tim Eiting shared selling duties and were assisted in the ring by Brian Garrison and Lee Barber. Wayne Sliker made announcements from the box with Connie Sliker and Deb Hoffman handling clerking responsibilities.
